I’ve learned to ACCEPT, that “HOT FLASHES” are …
A way of life for me,
For every two hours, for twenty-one years,
I “light up” like a Christmas tree,
My grandchildren have stated out loud at church,
“Gramma, your having one of those ….”
As my face turns various shades of red,
And sweat pours out from my head to my toes.
My firends look at me, and then calmly point out,
“Oh boy … there she goes again”,
Any my body’s so hot, it feels as if,
You could fry an egg on top of my skin.
But I’ll gladly embrace them as my cross to bear,
If that’s all the pain I’m asked to do,
When I think of the problems, that others endure,
And the suffering they have to go through.
I’ll offer them up for some other poor souls,
Who are in pain and agony and strife,
And pray for them, as I go on my way,
Being GRATEFUL for “HOT FLASHES” in life.
I’ll gladly “light up” … until the day that I die,
And then God’s sense of humor will be.
As others look on … as in the coffin I lay,
They’ll say “Oh look, she’s sweating, you see!”
